FAQs

How do I book a stay at Boreland Loch Tay?

It’s easy! You can book via our website, by calling us on 01887 827691 or by emailing bookings@borelandlochtay.co.uk

If you book by phone or email, we may ask for either full payment or a 20% deposit, depending on when your booking is for. The best offers can always be found on our website.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Are there any additional charges?

The price quoted is the price you pay. However, sometimes accidents happen, and a list of charges for any damages can be found in our T&Cs.

Is there parking on site?

There is plenty of free parking in the car park. When you arrive, drop your bags off at your cabin or lodge and move your car to the car park. This is to make sure that in an emergency, vehicles like ambulances can reach every property.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

You can cancel your reservation in writing up to 8 weeks before your stay. Drop us an email (bookings@borelandlochtay.co.uk) to let us know. A full breakdown of our cancellation policy can be found in our T&Cs.

Weddings and events differ slightly. Please check the T&Cs that you signed for your particular event.

Can I make changes to my booking?

We’ll always try to accommodate any changes you need to make. Of course, sometimes amendments might affect the price you pay. To make a tweak, contact us.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 4:00pm and check-out is by 10:30am on your departure day.

If you’d like to arrive early or enjoy a couple of extra hours soaking up the beauty of Loch Tay before you leave, get in touch before your stay. Although we can’t guarantee an early check-in or late check-out, we will always try our best.

How do I get access to the property?

A big Boreland welcome is one of the things we pride ourselves on. When you arrive, pop into our reception area and one of the team will show you to your accommodation.

We are a small team, so there may be the odd occasion when we can’t welcome you in person. But don’t worry, 24 hours before your stay, we will send you an email with a code to access the lockbox and keys (located outside your property).

We’ll then nip by to check that you’re settling in and have everything you need.

Do you offer housekeeping?

Unfortunately, we don’t offer a housekeeping service. However, if there is anything you need – we are here to help. Whether it is extra towels, dishwasher tablets, bin bags or a bottle of your favourite tipple, we will have it with you in a jiffy!

Do you have laundty facilities?

Currently, none of our properties have washing machines. However, if you need something urgently laundered, our housekeeping team is available from 10am – 3pm. We can pop any non-dry clean or delicate items through our machine.

Are bedding and towels included in my booking?

Yes, of course. Expect lots of lovely fresh bedding and towels.

Do I need to bring my own tea and coffee?

Each property has a small welcome pack of tea, Glen Lyon coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, toilet roll, dishwasher tablets, cleaning products, charcoal for your BBQ (if booking a feast) and indoor firewood. If you need extra firewood for the outdoor firepit, we sell bundles at £10. This should last around one evening.

Do all properties have a fridge, freezer and dishwasher?

Every property has a refrigerator and freezer apart from the Cottage which only has a fridge. Dishwashers are available in all properties. Some even have two!

Do you provide catering and is breakfast included?

We don’t cater for leisure guests yet. But it is something we’d love to do more of in future. Don’t fret though. Our kitchens have all the equipment you need to cook up a feast.

If all else fails, and with a little bit of notice (ideally 72 hours), we can organise the most epic BBQ packs from our local award-winning butcher or a hamper from the phenomenal Ballintaggart Farm.

BBQ packs start at £15pp.

What is included in the BBQ pack?

The BBQ packs come with everything you need for a proper feast. Depending on how hungry you are, we think a pack easily feeds two for a light dinner.

Beef burger

Garlic pork steak

2 x buns

2 x cheese slices

Chicken drumstick

Chinese beef kebab

Corn on the cob

Plus, our new veggie BBQ packs come with.

Vegetarian burger

Spicy bean burger

Vegetarian sausage

2 x buns

2 x cheese slices

Corn on the cob

Coleslaw

Can I have shopping delivered?

Yes, we can take delivery of your shopping and pack it away in your lodge or cabin before you arrive.

Is there a restaurant or pub nearby?

Perthshire is filled to the brim with some of the best places to eat and drink in Scotland. Here are some of our local favourites.

What activities are available?

Loads! We have partnered with most local activity providers to offer our guests access to the best things to do in the area. From a highland safari to paddle boarding and bungee jumping – we’ve got you covered.

Let us know what you’d like to experience and we can either book something for you, offer a discount code or point you in the right direction.  Read our adventures page for all the inspiration you need.

Are there any other guests on site?

With eight properties dotted around our land, we’ll likely have other guests staying at the same time. The good news? All of our lodges and cabins are self-contained with their own outdoor space and facilities.

Family celebrations, hen and stag weekends and corporate events can all take place at the same time with no disruption. When hosting a wedding, our couples hire the place out on an exclusive use basis most of the time.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely! The more the merrier we say. Take a look at some of our family-friendly activities.

Do you have cots or high chairs?

We do have a few travel cots and high chairs. If you’d like us to put these into your lodge or cabin, let us know. At the moment, we don’t provide bedding for the cots, just a mattress.

Do you allow pets?

All pooches large and small have a home here in Boreland. As long as you stop by and give us some doggy cuddles first! We just charge a small £15 fee per pooch to cover any extra cleaning.

What should we do in the case of an emergency?

For small emergencies, first aid kits are available in all our properties.

As we’re a self-catering business with a small team, there might not always be someone immediately available to help with bigger emergencies. All we ask is that all groups have a responsible person present who would contact the relevant emergency services.

999 is the national emergency response service in the UK. 112 is the pan-European equivalent to 999 and can also be used in the UK.

Are taxis or transport available?

As we’re in a rural area, taxis and transport can be fairly limited. It’s not all doom and gloom though.

We have three excellent local taxi firms and can also help organise a pick up from either Dunkeld or Pitlochry railway stations. There’s also the local bus. Although fairly infrequent, it’s a great option for both getting to and from the local stations.

As taxis are super popular, we suggest booking as early as you can.

  • Aberfeldy Taxis: 01887 820370
  • Saltire Taxis: 07387 982976
  • Highland Travel: 01882 633 398

We are super keen to show off our part of the world, so whether you have a car or not, a stay at Boreland can still be a great option.

Is there WiFi available?

We have the biggest and best gigabit Wi-Fi in each property! The password is Boreland.

Is Boreland accessible?

We want to be and our plan is to create something for everyone over time. At the moment, because of the nature of Boreland and its location, wheelchair access can be challenging. We don’t have any wheelchair-friendly accommodation but we do have an accessible toilet and shower in our main function area, centrally located to the rest of our properties. There are steps to navigate across most of the site.

How do I access Boreland's private pebble beach?

From Boreland, use the style in the car park with the sign “to the beach” and follow the wooden signs all the way down to the water. It’s around a 20-minute walk through fields and woodland. Or, jump in the car, turn right at the bottom of the hill (towards Killin) and drive for ¾ mile until you see the yellow Boreland Beach sign. There’s even a parking space for three cars.

Our lovely neighbours have gardens and their own stretches of shoreline next to our pebble beach. As these areas are private, we just ask that you only stick to our stretch. For a sandy alternative, head back towards the village of Kenmore.

Top tip: Choose comfy and waterproof shoes! You’ll also need a code for the padlock to access our beach and car parking. The team will be happy to give you the code.
